Robert Steve Leach, 69, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the V.A. Hospital in Asheville.
He was born January 20, 1947 in Rutherford Co., the husband of Gail Condrey Leach and the son of the late James Leach and the late Priscilla "Cella" Price Leach. He was a member of Hicks Grove Baptist Church, a welder by trade working in the construction field, a former member of the Rutherford County Honor Guard and a US Army Vietnam Veteran serving his country from 1969-1971. Steve liked hunting, spending time with his family, loved to serve others and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gail; a son, Bobby Leach and wife, Sherry of Harris; a daughter, Chasity West and husband, Doug of Rutherfordton; a brother, Willard Leach and wife, Joann of Mooresboro; two sisters, Shirley Leach Deviney and husband, Tom of Forest City and Carolyn Leach McDaniel and her companion, James Harris of Shiloh; three grandchildren, Jimmy and Justin Leach and Jake West and a step-grandson, Taylor Puckett.
A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held 4 PM Monday, October 10th at Hicks Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Don McIntyre and Pastor Raymond Byrd officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard following the services. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 PM at the church before the service.
