Mr. Roger Hubert Simpson, age 76 of Shelby, NC, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim Trexler. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

He is survived by a sister, Doris Raymore of Concord and several nieces and nephews.

Born June 9, 1938 in Ft. Mill, SC, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late Hubert and Violia Mae (Smith) Simpson and was preceded in death by his wife, Florance Griffin Simpson and a sister, Frances Simpson. Roger served in the U.S. Navy as a diesel mechanic where he earned an Honorable discharge. Following the Navy, he worked at Doran Textile as a mechanic where he retired. He enjoyed welding, tinkering with cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Simpson was also a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Building Fund, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby NC 28152.
