Roger Lee Whitesides, 74, of 3476 Crowder Ridge Road, Shelby, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Mr. Whitesides was born in Cleveland County on April 19, 1938 to the late John William Whitesides and Irene Crowder Whitesides. He was retired from McClean Trucking Company as a truck driver and was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Whitesides, and sister Shirley Medlin.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Judith Whitesides of Shelby; two sons, Wayne Whitesides and wife Betty of Vale and Roy Whitesides of Shelby; two sisters, Carolyn Bumgardner of Shelby and Marilyn Gates of Cary; two grandchildren, Michael Whitesides and Jonathan Whitesides; and three great-grandchildren, Cole Whitesides, Leland Whitesides and Riley Craig.
