            | Romy Eugene "Gene" Sigmon, 79, of 3233 Bridges Dairy Road, Shelby, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
 
 Born April 18, 1934 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Mertie
 Louiziane Sigmon Cook.  He worked at the Roundup Store and was a
 self-employed carpenter.  Gene was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
 
 In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice
 Spurling Sigmon; daughter, Lisa Jan Sigmon; nine brothers and two sisters.
 
 Survivors include a son, Ned Sigmon and wife, Wanda of Shelby; daughter,
 Donna Short and husband, Joe of Polkville; four grandchildren, Ashley Short,
 Jennifer Short, Kayley Sigmon and Matthew Sigmon; one great-granddaughter,
 Aubree Nicole Jones; two brothers and three sisters.
 
 Visitation: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church, Casar.
 At other times the family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Ashley
 Short, 103 Neil Brown Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
 
 Funeral Service: 4:00 PM, Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church, Casar
 
 Officiating: Rev. Norris Willis, Rev. Danny McNeilly and Rev. Robert Goins
 
 Burial: will follow in the church cemetery
 
 Memorials: May be made to Corinth Baptist Church, PO Box 188, Casar, NC
 28020.
