Rose Marie Young

Rose Marie Young, age 86, born in Albany, NY on December 23, 1936, to Nunzio Joseph Caruso and Josephine Dorothy Severino, passed on January 26, 2023.

She worked for Niagara Mohawk as an executive secretary in Albany, then Syracuse, NY, before retiring to Denver, NC.

Rose is preceded in death by her first husband, John Fisher, Sr., second husband Roger Young, son Johnnie Fisher, Jr, sister Nina Long (Elton), and brother Carmen Caruso.

Rose moved to Shelby in 2013, where she owned the Rag Bag with her daughter, Joanne. She was a member of Salem UMC in Denver, then Aldersgate UMC in Shelby. She was a great listener, a loving mother and grandmother, a friend to all, and will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.

Rose is survived by her brother Joseph Caruso (Lisa) of Hampton, NH, children, Joanne Fisher of Shelby, Doriann Salisbury (Bill) of Averill Park, NY, Suzann Gaines (Barry) of St. Augustine, FL, David Young (Kristie) of Syracuse, NY, and Samantha Alberti (Tim) of Cape Coral, FL, grandchildren Jason Salisbury (Caroline) of Parsippany, NJ, Jennifer Mackaman of Asheville, NC, Alyssa Mackaman of Shelby, NC, Quentin and Justine Young of Syracuse, and her great granddaughter, Charlotte Salisbury.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends in the Epworth Building of the Church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rose's memory to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region (www.hpccr.org) or to St. Jude's Hospital (www.stjude.org).
