Roy Rogers Smith, Sr., 68, 316 Holmes Street, Gaffney, SC, died February 8, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. Born in Meriden, CT, he is the husband of Loretta Parker Smith of the home and son of the late Samuel and Ruth Jones Smith. He was retired from Cherokee Finishing.
In addition to his wife, Loretta, he is survived by two sons - Roy Smith, Jr. and Eddie Parker both of Gaffney; five daugthers - Cheryl Lynn Smith, Edith Darwin, Loretta Whiten, Ruth Renee Durham and Stella Rose-Lee Raines all of Gaffney; two sisters - Betty Lou Bell of Gaffney and Faye McGillicuddy of New Hampshire; seventeen grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Receiving of Friends and Celebration of Life Service will be held at the home.
