Roy William Anness, 72, passed away on Saturday August 8, 2020 at Atrium Health - Lincoln.

Roy was born on October 29, 1947 in Harrison County, Kentucky a son of the late Richard Anness and Inez Tilton Anness. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. Roy attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan. Roy served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Link Anness of the home; two sons, Dean Anness of Cherryville and Willie Anness of Inman, SC; a daughter Tracy Anness of Cherryville; a grandson who was like a son, Andrew Anness; a sister Wanda Woolums of Kentucky; four brothers, Richard Anness, Marlin Anness and James Anness all of Kentucky and John Anness of Florida; special friends Derrick and Melanie Fairchild of Kentucky; eight grandchildren and five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, 310 W. Church Street, Cherryville, NC 28021 with Pastor Ben Kifer and Pastor Rick Sloop officiating.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions social distancing and face coverings will be required.
