KINGS MOUNTAIN- Royd Grindell, 74, of Kings Mountain, went to be with our Lord and savior on June 26, 2016. He was a member of Souls harbor Pentecostal Church. He loved reading his Bible, singing gospel songs, and playing his guitar. He was Chief of the Long House Indian Guide when his two sons were younger. He loved working outside, swimming, playing with the cat, sitting on the patio with his friend Jerry and arguing with him while they drank coffee together.

PRECEDED: he is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Vivian Barney Grindell; one sister, Donna Horvath; three brothers, Chelsey Grindell, Laurice Grindell, and David Grindell.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Fletcher Grindell of the home; two sons, Robert Grindell and wife Wendy of Kings Mountain, Kevin Grindell and wife Lerryn of West Palm beach, Florida; one daughter, Winona Latona and husband Vince of West Palm Beach, Florida; two step son, Eric Shayne Richardson of Kings Mountain, James Steven Richardson and wife Krissy of Lincolnton; five grandsons, Tommy, Andrew, Josh, and wife Emily, Zachery Grindell, and Nicholas Latona; three granddaughters, Olivia and Khaetlyn Grindell, Mary Latona, step granddaughter, Elizabeth Richardson; two sisters, Diana Szymaszek and husband Gregg of The Villages, Florida, Darlene Winsor and husband Paul of The Villages, Florida.

SERVICES: a funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Souls Harbor Tabernacle.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Tuesday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain and other times at his home, 22 Bennett Drive Kings Mountain, NC 28086.

CLERGY: Rev James Chambers will officiate the service.

INTERNMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery
