Ruby Ann (Granny) Byars
Gaffney -- Ruby Ann (Granny) Byars, 78, of 138 1/2 Jefferson St, passed away December 28th, 2012 at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Byars was the widow of the late Grady Leon Byars Sr. and the daughter of the late George and Carrie Elizabeth Bolton Black.  She worked as a spinner in the textile industry and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Byars is survived by four sons, George Edward Byars, Joe Dean Byars,Terry Wayne Byars, and Billy Boyd Byars, all of Gaffney; a daughter, Carol Diane Pierce of Gaffney; 10 gandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She had one son, Grady Leon Byars Jr., a brother, Joe Black, and a sister, Opal Spencer, to precede her in death.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Gordon Mortuary.  Funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2013, at Gordon Mortuary at 2:00 PM with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Alester McKinney officiating.  Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.  Pall bearers are Jerry Blaine Byars Jr., Bobby Lee Spencer, Dustin Wayne Stanford, Randy Wayne Martin, Robert Black, Jay Leopard, and Adam Leopard.

The family will be at the residence, 138 1/2 Jefferson St., Gaffney, SC.
