Ruby Estelle Owens, 89, of 873 Oak Grove Clover Hill Church
Road, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in
Shelby.
Born September 17, 1922 in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Tom Lee
and Addie Lee. She was a homemaker and a member of Casar Tabernacle Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee
Owens; three sons, Carl Dean Owens, Gary Wayne Owens and Jim Owens; two
daughters, Brenda Cogdell and Wanda Smart; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Short and husband, Boyd of Lawndale and
Frances Smith and husband, James of Gastonia; special son, Billy Cogdell and
a son-in-law, Chiss Smart of Morganton. She is also survived by numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday at Wallace Grove Baptist Church. The
body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
Officiating: Rev. Jerry Owens and Rev. Marie Dunn
Burial: Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
