Ruby Heafner Grigg, 88, of Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.  She was the daughter of the late W.R. and Viola Powell Heafner.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Grigg, her sister Mildred Wilson and brother, A.V. Heafner.  Mrs. Grigg was retired from PPG industries with over thirty three years of service. She was a member of Union Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, WMU, and secretary of the senior group.  She enjoyed gardening and watching her pretty flowers grow.

Mrs. Grigg is survived by her son, William Randy Grigg and significant other Julie Harmon of Shelby; her daughter, Diane Costner and husband Roger of Shelby; a brother, Hal Heafner and wife Becky of Shelby; sister-in-law, Sue G Heafner of Lawndale; grandchildren, Scott Grigg, Wendy Grigg Self, Kim Costner Earl and husband Mike and Keith Costner and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Cody, and Madison Self and Logan and Lexi Costner; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Grigg will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Union Baptist Church.  The Rev. Michael Shumate will be officiating.  Burial will be immediately following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00pm prior to the service.
