Rufus Lee Weathers, age 73, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at his home. Born in Cleveland County on April 1, 1943 he was the son of the late Rufus Yancey and Mary Frances Whisnant Weathers. Lee was a U. S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He worked for Royster Transport for a number of years. Lee enjoyed participating in antique tractor pulls and collecting antique tractors. In addition to his parents, Lee is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Lattimore.

Lee is survived by a sister, Millie Lattimore of Lattimore; two nephews, Alex Lattimore and wife Anna of Lattimore, and William Lee Lattimore of Marion; great nieces and nephew, Carter Lattimore, Laura Lattimore, and Sarah Lattimore; Aunts and Uncle, Herschel Whisnant and Judy of Shelby, Ola Bowman of Julian and Pantha Park of Taylors, SC.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. A private burial will be held at Union Baptist Church on Monday at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
