Russell Alvin Hoyle
Russell Alvin Hoyle, 81, of Shelby passed away on May 21, 2014, at Hospice House of Kings Mountain, after fighting a short battle with cancer.  Born on June 16, 1932, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Clem and Lola Hoyle. Russell spent many of his working years at Dover Textile Mills and providing lawn and yard care.  Russell loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed his time on his Murray riding mower.  But his favorite thing to do was spending time with his wife, Billie Ann, at the beach in their camper.  We were honored and blessed to call him father, grandfather and great grandfather, husband, brother and friend.  He touched our lives in countless ways and was proud of each and every one of us.  He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by siblings, James Hoyle, Howard Hoyle, Mary Lou Hoyle and Boyd Hoyle.

Russell is survived by his wife of 37 years,  Billie Ann Costner Hoyle;  children: son Edward and Gerri Hoyle of Lexington, son Steve and Carol Costner of Shelby, son Jimmy Graham and Lee Anne Wade of Shelby, son Russell Hoyle Jr. and Robin of Gastonia, daughter Barbara and Wendell Brown of Iron Station, son Scott Hoyle of Cherryville, son Wesley Costner and Karen of Boiling Springs, and daughter Candace Hoyle Eaker of Cherryville; a brother Harvey Hoyle and wife Norma of Lawndale;  15 loving grandchildren and 9 wonderful great grandchildren.
