Ruth Ellen Todd Stone, 93, died Sunday April 21, 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Gaston County on August 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Ray and Addie Short Todd. She was a member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was a member of the WMU, and had a heart for missions. She was in the Women's Army Core during WWII and worked for Dover Mill as a winder. She enjoyed needlework, cooking and working in the yard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Stone; a sister, Marvilee Baker; and a granddaughter, Amanda Stone.

Mrs. Stone is survived by two sons, David Stone and wife Patricia of Virginia, and Grady
Stone of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Penny Stone of Kings Mountain; a sister, Mabel Wallace of Kings Mountain; a brother, Bill Todd of Florida; four grandsons, Tim Stone, Thomas Stone, Patrick Stone, and Robert Stone; and a great grandson, Steven Stone.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 25, 2013 at 2:00pm at Allen Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00pm until 7:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
