Ruth Elliott Kurkendall age 79 passed from this world on Friday July 15, 2016 while at Hospice House in Forest City, NC and has gone on to be with The Lord. A native of Rutherford County she is the daughter of the late Edgar Newton Elliott and Estelle Frazier Elliott was a former employee of the Rutherford County School System and was an active member of Spencer Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dan Kurkendall, three sons - Stephen Wright and wife Rebekah, Larry Wright and wife Joy and Gary Wright; two stepsons - Daniel James Kurkendall and Phillip Todd Kurkendall, grandchildren - Johnathan Wright and wife Amanda, Joseph Wright and wife Jessie, Matthew Wright, Chelsie Bailey and husband Justin, three great grandchildren, one brother Edgar Newton Elliott, Jr. and wife Winnie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Gene Wright and one son Mark Wright.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Caldwell, Dr. Larry Gregg and Stephen Wright officiating. The burial will be in Green Hill Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM Monday July 18, 2016 at Crowe's Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church.
