Ruth Hamrick Beam, 99, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Ed Hamrick and Daisy Olivia Gardner Hamrick. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Hoyle Beam; a granddaughter, Pam B. Howell; brothers, Joe Hamrick, Tom Hamrick, Kesler Hamrick, Scott Hamrick and Glenn Hamrick and two sisters, Velva Hamrick and Louise Harris.

Survivors include a son, Edwin Beam and wife, Rebecca of Shelby; a daughter, Annette Beam of Lenoir; a sister, Rachel Ballard of Gastonia; grandchildren, Sally B. Agner and husband, David, Chris Dudley, Beth Yurkovich and husband, Rob and Norris Howell; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca Agner, Laura Agner, Kevin Agner, Sam Howell and Abby Howell.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Bird officiating.
