Ruth Hurdt Philbeck

SHELBY- Ruth Hurdt Philbeck, 84, a resident of Peak Resources, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Peak Resources. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lottie Hoyle Hurdt. She was retired from Kemit, and was a member of New Buffalo Baptist Church in Grover.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Tom Philbeck; one daughter, Linda Carroll Philbeck; one sister and four brothers.

SURVIVED: She is survived by five sons, Tom Philbeck, Jr. and wife Adriana of Charleston, SC, Steve Philbeck and wife Sherry of Meridian, MS, Rev. David Philbeck and wife Brenda of Bostic, Terry Philbeck and wife Susie of Tampa, FL, Doug Philbeck and wife Jeannie of Summerville, SC; one sister, Shirley Adams of Shelby; three brothers, Ronald Hurdt and wife Ella of Hollis, Andrew Hurdt of Shelby, Leonard Hurdt and wife Ruth of Golden Valley; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at New Buffalo Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-7:30 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

CLERGY: Rev. Adam Green and her son Rev. David Philbeck, and Rev. Dale Angel will officiate.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery
