Ruth Inez Wellman, 76, of Cooksville Road, Vale, passed away Saturday,
August 19, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.

Born in Cleveland County, on October 11, 1940, she was a daughter of the
late Marvin Estes Shoup and Viola Hipps Shoup. She was retired from
healthcare and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane
Icard, four sisters, Mary Lee Shoup, Mabel Whisnant, Patsy Cline and Dorothy
Gross.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-two years, Edison Pinkney Wellman;
son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Peggy Hicks of George Hildebran; stepsons
and spouse, Ricky Wellman of Grover and Jerry and Sandra Wellman of Granite
Falls; stepdaughter and spouse, Sylvia and Ervil Willis of Lawndale; brother
Marvin Shoup of Hickory; ten grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at Zion Hill
Baptist Church, Lawndale. Condolences may be made online at

The funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at Zion Hill Baptist
Church, Lawndale with the Revs. Alan Barlow and Jason Shoup officiating.
