Ruth "Mom" Smith Crilley, 91, passed away early Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at Cleveland Pines.

Mrs. Crilley was born August 30, 1924 in Gaston County. She is the daughter of the late Washington Roseboro Smith and Mary Glenn Smith. She was employed with Catalina Sports Wear as a machine operator and retired after 23 years of service. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star #110 where she served twice as Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Crilley; five brothers Charlie Smith, George Smith, Glen Smith, Paul Smith, Billy Smith; and daughter-in-law Carolyn Smith

Granny, as she was affectionately known as, is survived by her sons; Bob D. Smith of Shelby, NC; Gary Smith and wife Judy of Elberton, GA; and her daughters; Sue Urmy and husband Ron of Greenbrier, AR; Lynn Crilley of Pomona, CA; and Linda Chandler and husband Wayne of Tucson, AZ, who was like a daughter; a sister Betty Jolley of Rutherfordton, NC, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 3:00pm, Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Mr. Eric Stamey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will received friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the funeral home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Tanya Smith, 109 Wease Drive, Shelby NC.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC, or Hoey Memorial United Methodist Church, Lenoir Circle, 2300 Hoey Church Road, Shelby, NC, or to the Cleveland County Humane Society, 1609 E Marion Street, Shelby, NC.
