Sabra Kathryn Anthony Kennedy, a beloved teacher, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at Atrium Health - Shelby.

Born February 26th, 1956, in Lincoln County to parents Lester "Winnie" Ralph Anthony and Anne Beam Anthony, Sabra grew into a spirited and adventurous woman. She shared her zest for life with her late husband, Clyde Franklin Kennedy, and together they created a legacy of love.

Having dedicated twenty-seven years to shaping young minds at Northbrook Elementary School, Mrs. Kennedy left an indelible mark on countless students. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom, embodying her values of service and community as she devoted her time to deliver Meals on Wheels after her retirement.

Sabra is lovingly remembered by her close-knit family. She is survived by her son, Ian Kennedy of Cherryville; daughter, Jennifer Kennedy Leonard and her husband Ronny of Connelly Springs; her brother, Lindon "Linny" Ralph Anthony and his wife Gail of Cherryville. Her memory will also be treasured by her two grandchildren, Cole Leonard and Sydney Leonard, and her niece, Sarah Katlyn Anthony.

A member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, Sabra's faith guided her through life's journeys.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church with the Minister Mark Howell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
