Sam Owen Grigg, 76, of 3749 Rube Spangler Road, Lawndale, passed away
Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
He was born in Lincoln County on April 24, 1938 to the late Neb Grigg and
Sedelle Lee Grigg. He was retired from Cleveland Mills and was a member of
the Lawndale Masonic Lodge #486, Lawndale American Legion and New Bethel
Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca
Jones Grigg; son-in-law, Philip Wortman; two brothers, Buck Grigg and Don
Grigg; and two sisters Barbara Beam and Ina Towery.
He is survived by his son, Jon Grigg and wife Angie of Lawndale; two
daughters, Beth McCoy and husband Billy of Shelby and Sammi Wortman of
Shelby; sister, Joy Hakan of Chapel Hill; six grandchildren Josh Wortman,
Jacob Wortman, Justin Grigg, Elise Grigg, Kaley McCoy and Lindsey McCoy.
The family would like to thank Owen's Peak Resource family for all the care
through his years of illness.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 2:00 P.M. at New Bethel Baptist
Church, Lawndale, with the Dr. Tim Elmore officiating.
The burial will follow the services in the Rose Hill Memorial Park,
Fallston.

Shelby, NC 28150.
