Samuel Anderson Hambright Sr.

Blacksburg -- Samuel Anderson Hambright Sr., 95, of 1298 Antioch Road, passed away Wednesday, October 11th, 2017, at his home.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the widower of Elizabeth Nolan Hambright and the son of the late Thomas Hambright Sr. and Mabel Weir Hambright. Mr. Hambright previously worked in construction and as a farmer, but he retired after teaching Vocational Orientation at the Cherokee Technology Center after 16 years. After his retirement, you would usually find him at one of three places: his garden, on his mower cutting someone's grass, or socializing at the bug shop. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Hambright are three daughters, Lynn Hambright Davis and husband, Roney, of Shelby, NC, Carol Price of Blacksburg, and Karen Moss of the home; three sisters, Aileen Cantrel, Bess Phifer, and Sue Drye; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hambright was preceded in death by a son, Andy Hambright; two sisters, Louise Roberts and Lucy Kinard, and two brothers, Lawrence and Thomas Hambright.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 13th, 2017 at 11:00 am at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Glen Wilson.

The family will be at the residence.
