Sara Lou Barnes Spence

Mrs. Sara Lou Barnes Spence, 67, of Forest City passed away Sunday June 5, 2016 at the Rutherford County Hospice House.

She was born August 19, 1948 in Rutherford County, the wife of the late Henry Clay Spence and the daughter of the late James Edward Barnes and Hazel Harris Barnes. She was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church, a graduate of Chase High School and was a former Real Estate Agent with Washburn Reality. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking and listening to Country Music. She put everyone else's needs before her own and made sure everyone was "clothed and fed".

Survivors include her son, Josh Conley Spence of Carolina Beach; a daughter, Leah Courtney Spence of Forest City; two sisters, Sandra Robbins of Forest City and Susie Overwyk and husband, Jim of Suwanee, GA; a grandson, Luke Christopher Butler and her best friend, Patsy Deaver.

She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

A graveside Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, June7th in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery by Pastor Ron Wilkins. The family will receive friends before the service at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.
