Sara White Gardner

SARA WHITE GARDNER, 98, passed away December 7, 2015 at The Serenity House in Huntersville, NC. Sara was born on April 16, 1917 in Blacksburg, SC to the late Clarence Clyde White and Daisy Kiser White. She was the bookkeeper at Kester Furniture Company in Shelby, NC. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colin Max Gardner, to whom she was married fifty five years, by her youngest son, Wayne Gardner of Cornelius, NC and grandson, Edwin Gardner of Shelby.

She is survived by her son, Alfred Gardner and wife Rachel of Raleigh, daughter-in-law, Windoll Gardner of Cornelius. She also has three surviving siblings, Margaret Williamson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jay White and Margaret of Matthews, Bobby White and Joyce of Shelby; Four grandchildren: Jeremy Gardner of Charlotte, Robert Lambert of Port St. Lucie, Florida John Gardner and wife Maeve of Raleigh, Elizabeth Culbreth and husband Tripp of Raleigh. Sara was the proud great grandmother of Reece and Max Culbreth and most recently, Catherine Kilton Gardner.

The family will receive friends from 10am-11am on Saturday December 19th at Cecil Burton Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby and a Celebration of Life service will follow in the Cecil Burton Chapel at 11am on Saturday, December 19, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Elizabeth Baptist Church, 301 Post Rd. Shelby, NC 28152 or Serenity House, 14108 Stumptown Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078
