SARAH ELLEN SPRATT BRIDGES

Sarah Ellen Spratt Bridges, 93, of Hopewell Road, Blacksburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord August 20, 2017, at Magnolias of Gaffney, A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was married to the late Thomas Virgil Bridges, Sr. and was the daughter of the late Obed M. and Margaret Martin Spratt. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and was an employee of the textile industry. She loved quilting and crafts, but most of all, her family.

She is survived by one son - Tommy Bridges, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, of Blacksburg; three daughters - Linda Gail Bridges Hinks and husband, John, Sr., of Columbia, SC, Sarah Frances Bridges Morris of Charlotte, NC, and Martha Kathryn Bridges Atkinson of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren - John Hinks, Jr. and wife, Britt, and Whitley Hinks and wife, Aimee all of Columbia, SC, Georgiana Short Lawson of Charlotte, NC, James Atkinson, Jr. and Kathryn P. Atkinson both of Greenville, SC, and Matthew S. Duncan and wife Sara of Blacksburg, SC; eleven great-grandchildren; one son-in-law - Stephen Barry Short of Gaffney, SC; and a special sister-in-law - Wanda Bridges Hawkins of Greenville, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceeded in death by one daughter - Margaret Bridges Short; five brothers - Chivous Spratt, Obed M. Spratt, Jr., Robert W. Spratt, Grady E. Spratt and Carson Spratt; and one sister - Penola Stewart Latham.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2017, from 1-2:00 PM, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC. A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 2:00 PM with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Tommy and Rhonda Bridges, 880 Hopewell Road, Blacksburg, SC.

Pallbearers serving are John Hinks, Jr., Whitley Hinks, Trey Atkinson, Matthew Duncan, Everett Martin and Campbell Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, SC, 29702, or to the charity of one's choice.
