North Carolina Senior Games has been and remains a model for the nation in health promotion programming for persons 55 and better.  As a result of the proven success of North Carolina Senior Games, we are fortunate to have Senior Games in our county.  Senior Games is about Fun, Fitness, Friends, and Family.  It is also about competition.  Senior Games provides seniors who qualify with their local games the opportunity to compete at the State level and beyond competing at the State level is also the opportunity to compete nationally.  Seniors are awarded medals; gold, silver, and bronze depending upon how they score and rank in their particular sporting event.
Senior Games is the gift of health, a gift that keeps on giving.  The Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center’s mission is to promote quality of life and independent living throughout the lifespan.  Our mission comes alive and shines brightly through Senior Games.  Local games will be held at the Neal Senior Center, Shelby Parks and Recreation (Shelby City Park), Gardner-Webb University, Challenger III Amusement Park , AMF Gastonia Lanes, Riverbend Golf Course, and Kings Mountain High School.  Cleveland County Senior Games will be held April 15 – 19, 2013.  Opening Ceremonies will be held on Monday, April 15th at Gardner Webb University Spangler Stadium at 9:00 a.m.
