Shelby Jean Neal Ford, age 73 of Mary's Grove Rd. passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Carolina Care Health and Rehabilitation. She was born September 1, 1944 in Gaston County to the late Howard Ralph and Mable Lorene Harmon Neal. Shelby retired from Doran Mills and had attended Second Baptist Church. She also loved flowers and hummingbirds. She also enjoyed sitting on the front porch with friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Sonja McSwain and husband, Mark and Chuck Ford and wife, Christie; eight grandchildren, Alexander Vazquez, Isaiah Vazquez, Matthew Vazquez, Analyse Vazquez, Madison Ford, Mason Ford, Brady Ford, and Hunter McSwain; brothers, Sonny Neal and wife, Georgia and Rick Neal and wife, Nancy; friend and father of her children, Charles Ford; and special friends, Billie Jones and Phyllis Bumgardner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Mike Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Mary's Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Mark and Sonja, 304 Mark St, Cherryville.
