Shirley Carol McSwain Jones

Shirley Carol McSwain Jones, age 77, formerly of Boiling Springs, passed away on Monday November 21, 2016 at Presbyterian Main in Charlotte. Born in Cleveland County on May 3, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Lindsey Lee and Pauline Brooks McSwain. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death, and is having a grand reunion with her loving husband of 51 years, Howard Jones; a brother, Bud McSwain. Shirley was a lifetime member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. She retired from the former Crawley Memorial Hospital as a Medical Records Supervisor. Shirley was a competitive bridge player and was a member of two clubs. She and her husband, Howard Jones, were instrumental in fundraising and supporting the YMCA in coming to Boiling Springs. Shirley and Howard would compete in completing crossword puzzles each morning. Shirley cherished her family and friends, and would call each of them on their birthday and sing "Happy Birthday" to them. She loved the Holidays, especially Christmas, she enjoyed her family vacations to Hilton Head. She was a loving person and enjoyed giving gifts.

Shirley is survived by; her daughter, Karen McPhaul and husband Graham of Charlotte; two cherished grandchildren, Trey McPhaul and Lindsey McPhaul both of Charlotte; a sister, Margaret Walker of Fletcher; a sister-in-law, Connie McSwain and husband Ron Rogers of Flat Rock; several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:00pm at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Life Enrichment Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: the charity of your choice.
