Shirley Elizabeth Beam Hartman, age 78, of 405 S. Gaston St., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her residence in Dallas.
Mrs. Hartman was born on April 30, 1935 in Gaston a daughter of the late Percy and Grace Carpenter Beam. Shirley was a loving wife and devoted mother who spent her life caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Percy Beam Jr.; and sisters Winnon Beam, and Joyce Beam May.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Darise Hartman; daughters Teresa Parsons (Hershel) of Gastonia, and Robin Nicholson (Lee) of Bessemer City; sister-in-law, Jean Hartman of Lincolnton, and brother-in-law, Ralph Hartman (Mary) of Lincolnton.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral and Cremation Services will Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:30 -1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
