Shirley Elizabeth Helton, age 93, of Fair Haven Forest City, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, she was born on June 20, 1925.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, George Americus Helton Sr.
Left to cherish her memories are her children George Helton Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Rutherfordton; Nancy Rochelle and husband, Mike, of Mint Hill; Jackie Walker of Rutherfordton; Gwen Goode and husband, Buster, of Rutherfordton; Peter Helton Sr. of Cary; Barry Helton and wife, Wanda, of Bostic; Darryl Helton and wife, Faye, of Lake Lure; Carole Leslie of Rutherfordton; Kevin Helton and wife, Jennifer, of Bostic; and Keith Helton and wife, Judith, of Rutherfordton. She also had 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2018 at Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. The burial will take place after the service at the cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Southern Baptist Church.
