Shirley Rae Ellis Walls, age 66, of Devenny Road passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1951 in Lincoln County to the late William "W.T." and Sallie Edna Mull Ellis. She was a seamstress and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Shirley loved traveling to the beach and the mountains. She also enjoyed fishing and being in the peace and quiet.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Harold Ellis; great granddaughter, Kenzie Grace Bridges; nephew, Wesley Eillis; and niece, Amanda Jones.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, George Richard Walls; children, Jonathan Walls and wife Jackie of Cherryville, Sallie Comer and husband, Brian of Shelby, and Mistie Meadows of Cherryville; grandchildren, Jon Jon Walls, Richard Walls, MaKayla Walls, Josh Walls, Jenna Sigmon, Amanda Smith, Dyamond Jones, Seth Jones, Breanna Comer, Lacey and William Payne, and Daniel Dulaney; great grandchildren, Christian Walls, Adam Bridges, and Natalee Bridges; siblings, Peggy and David Taylor, David and Barbara Ellis, Joyce White, and Pam and Jimmy Jones, all of Cherryville; Sisters-in-Law and Brother-in-Law, Carolyn Williams, Ronald and Becky Walls, and Iris Walls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Shelby with Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
