Shirley Valore Moody Thackerson, 76, of Ward Street, Lawndale, passed away
Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

She was born in Gaston County on December 16, 1939, to the late James Moody
and Hazel Laws Moody. She attended Shelby First Church of the Nazarene and
was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie
DePrie.

She is survived by her husband Fred Marshall Thackerson; three sons, Barry
Walker of Lawndale, Scott Thackerson and wife, Gennie of Shelby and Tony
Abernathy and wife, Fran of Shelby; one brother, Steve Moody of Tennessee; a
sister, Shelia Jones of Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Matthew
Thackerson, Andrew Thackerson, and Mason Abernathy.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. Condolences may be made online at

The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home Chapel with the Pastor Eddie Clayton and Pastor Tony Rayfield
officiating. At other times the family will be at the home of Scott &
Gennie Thackerson, 1085 Hendrick Lake Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

The burial will follow the service in the Double Shoals United Methodist
Church Cemetery, Shelby.
