SilverArts: Celebrate The Creative Spirit March 12-16, 2012
Attention Artists, actors, singers, dancers, writers, painters, musicians, photographers, sculptors and craftsmen of every kind!  A celebration of the creative spirit is about to begin!  March 12-16, 2012, Cleveland County adults age 55 and above will showcase their talents and/or hobbies during the SilverArts Celebration sponsored by the Council on Aging/Senior Center. Admission is FREE to view the SilverArts Display, which will be open to the public Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. beginning March 12th.
SilverArts provides seniors with a chance to participate in a variety of creative events for fun and/or competition.  Visual, heritage, and literary works of art may be entered in numerous subcategories such as oil, acrylics, watercolors, sculpture, photography, story writing, poetry, quilting, stained glass and woodworking among many others.   The SilverArts Follies showcases the Performing Arts.   The Literary Arts Deadline is February 27, 2012 and the deadline for registration for Heritage, Visual and Performing Arts is March 2, 2012.
There will be a Drop-In Artist Reception held on March 12th from 10 – 11 a.m. and admission is free. The public is invited to attend the Performing Arts Show on Friday, March 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Council on Aging/Neal Senior Center.  Admission is free for Performing Artists only and $2 for the public.  The Silver Arts Awards Luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 29th at noon. Admission is free for all SilverArtists and $6.50 for the public. If you are interested in attending the Silver Arts Awards Luncheon, please call the Front Desk Receptionist at (704) 482-3488 to register.  The deadline to register and pay if you are not a SilverArtist will be Thursday, March 22nd.
