Students Earn AP Scholar Awards
Fourteen Burns High School students earned AP Scholar awards in recognition of their exceptional performance on Advanced Placement Exams.

Spencer Martin and Molly Clay, currently seniors at Burns, qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. Twelve students who graduated in June 2010 also earned AP Scholar Awards. Graduates earning AP Scholar with Distinction include Adam Benfield and Macy Cook. Graduates who earned AP Scholar with Honor include Haley Baxter and Zachary Proctor. Graduates who earned AP Scholar include Shelby Dotson, Michael Gantt, Kevin Gordon, Margaret Hill, Lauren Lee, Caleb Royster, Joshua Sweezy, and Andrew Toney.

Scholar with Distinction means the student earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams. Scholar with Honor means the student earned an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams. Martin and Clay have this year to potentially earn a higher level of AP Scholar Award.

The College Board’s AP Program provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.8 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
