Sue Black Sneed, age 89, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Peak Resources in Cherryville. She was born on October 2, 1926 in Gaston County to the late James and Ava Wise Black. Sue was a member of First Presbyterian Church. After retiring from Ruby's Dress Shop, Sue continued as an at-home seamstress for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ozzie Sneed; daughter, Luane Sneed Hoover; and brother, James "Jim" Black.
Survivors include her daughter, Janie S. Ross of Cherryville; grandchildren, Lance Hoover of Charlotte, Michael Ross and wife, Tracie of Little River, SC, and Susan Runser and husband, Mike of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Katherine Wiegel of Cherryville, Nez Hovis of Lincolnton, and Betty Jane Robinson of Cherryville; great grandchildren, Bayley, Brody, Stuart, and Matthew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery in the Black Family Section. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Academy St. Cherryville, NC 28021.
