Sybil Jacqueline Yelton Dixon
 Sybil Jacqueline Yelton Dixon, 82, of 129 Dickson Rd, Fallston, passed away
Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Yelton and
Ruth Grace Puckett Yelton.  Mrs. Dixon attended Women's College of UNC,
received her BA in English from Limestone College and her Masters in
Education with certification in counseling and supervision from
UNC-Charlotte.  Her professional achievements included teacher of Literature
and Language Arts for 25 years in Cleveland County Schools, director of
Secondary Education (Burns and Crest), and  past president of international
teachers'  sorority, Kappa Kappa Iota, Omicron Chapter.  A member of
numerous professional and educational organizations, she served as adjunct
professor of English at Gardner-Webb University and collaborated in writing,
compiling and editing a school history of Cleveland County.  A member of
Fallston Baptist Church, she was a former Sunday school teacher, leader of
Girls' Auxiliary, officer of Baptist Women, member of Constitution and
Nominating committees; author of the church constitution, chairman of Church
Daycare Committee and director of Youth Drama.  Mrs. Dixon served as Chief
Judge of Fallston voting precinct,was a  member of Junior Fallston Woman's
Club and Fallston Woman's Club and an officer of Fallston Eastern Star.
Community volunteerism being a great part of her life, she was board member
and chair of Cleveland County Board of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and
Substance Abuse Services, member of United Way Board of Directors, board
member and vice chair of Gardner-Webb University  Christian Service
Organization, Erma Drum Poetry Festival coordinator and member of  Life
Enrichment Board of Directors.  Among her various awards and recognitions
were  Burns High School Teacher of the Year and Cleveland County Commission
For Women - Distinguished Woman of 2010.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law,
Robbie Warlick Dixon and great grandson, Nathaniel Paul Dixon.

Mrs. Dixon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ralph William Dixon Sr.;
son, Ralph Dixon Jr. and wife Myra of Boiling Springs; daughter, Sherry
Nappier and husband Randy of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Christopher
Dixon and wife Farrah, Heather Dixon Wolking and husband Alan and Zachary
Nappier;  and  great grandchildren, Campbell Dixon and Kenan Dixon.

Visitation:  5:30 PM  to 7:30 PM, Friday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.

Interment: Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
