BESSEMER CITY - Tempie Mae Tate Bridges, age 68, of Bessemer City passed away April 15, 2016 at Courtland Terrace.
Born in Rutherford County, NC on May 17, 1947, Tempie was the daughter of the late J. C. Tate, Eva Odom Smith and Fola Walden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Dinnis Bridges.
She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church in Shelby.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leonard Douglas Bridges of Bessemer City; son, Leonard "Steve" Bridges and wife Candy of Bessemer City; daughter, Tammy Short and fiancé Dewey Welch of Newton; sister, Elaine Kennedy and husband Winfred; brother, Billy Doster and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Jonathan Busler, Tyler Bridges and Kelsey Short.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Forrest Hennessee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
