Terry Earl Dixon

SPINDALE - In the early morning of June 14, 2015, Terry Earl Dixon fought and finished his battle with cancer on his terms while being comforted by family in his Spindale, North Carolina home. Terry was 58 years old.

Terry Dixon was born in the town of Shelby, North Carolina on March 31, 1957. He was the second child, and the first son, of the late Norma and Hubert Dixon.

Terry spent much of his early childhood in California living with his mother, step father, Larry Kline and his four siblings. Early on he was a champion for cause, a protector of the weak and provider for the less fortunate. As a teenager, Terry would earn money doing yard work then treat his brother and sisters to a soda and candy bar. A true giving and caring spirit that stayed in him throughout his life.

At the age of 14, Terry took residence with his biological father and moved temporarily to Pennsylvania. Ultimately, Terry returned to his roots here in North Carolina where he lived with his grandmother until he was an adult, returning to California to work in the Aerospace industry and raise his first three children with his wife Renee. Something was missing from his life though, so Terry returned to North Carolina where he remained until his passing.

Terry had many hobbies and interests. Most important to him were his children, grand children and great grand child. He was an avid enthusiast of Harley Davidson motorcycles, all things aviation and firearms both modern and historic. In his later years, you would find him in his house or holding court on his porch communing with any and everyone coming by to see him or just walking by. He was a friend to all.

Terry was the kind of man that would give a stranger his last dollar, often times without being asked. From secretly paying for a family's meal at a local fast food to adding gas to someone's car. He was always there for anyone whether they knew him or not. He was a good and decent man. A true son, brother, father and grand father.

Terry is survived by his five children, Stacy Hannon and her husband Arthur, Jenifer Dixon, his son Chad Dixon and his wife Stacy, Alexis Dixon and Abagayle Dixon, his three sisters, Debbie, Cathy, Robin and his brother Malcolm, half sister, Vivan Dixon of California, his stepfather Larry, nine grand children and one great grand child. He will be sorely missed.

Services will be held this Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Coppermine Farm, 359 Mayse Road, Forest City beginning at 7:00 pm followed by a motorcycle ride off into the sunset.

A special thank you to Dr. Reese, Dr. Dickson, the caring staff at Rutherfordton Hospital and the multitudes of Terry's friends and acquaintances that continue to share and keep current the touching stories of our son, daddy, grand daddy and brother Terry Earl Dixon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert S. Morgan, Jr., Funeral Service Licensee, LLC of Fallston, NC. Online condolences at rsmorganfsl.com.
