Mr. Tetri Donté Byers, 39, of 397 Seattle St. Apt. 2B Shelby, NC departed this life on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.  He was born on October 2, 1973 in Cleveland County to Lydia McCluney Steele and the late John Keith Byers.

Tetri was a 1991 graduate of Burns High School and also attended Cleveland Community College.  He enjoyed music and began writing music when he was 13 years old.  He was always an energetic person, kindhearted person who loved caring for his girls.  In addition, he was an amateur barber who loved cutting hair for his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mason and Lyda Sue McCluney and his paternal grandparents, John Edward and Katie Rue Byers.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother and step-father, Lydia McCluney Steele and William Steele of Shelby; four daughters, Phalon Byers and Katie Byers both of the home, Te’Laiyah Byers of Shelby and Lyric Byers of Rhode Island; a brother, Wesley Byers of Shelby; special cousins, Aaron McDowell of Charlotte, NC and Shon McDowell of Winston-Salem, NC; a special friend, Renata Hopper of Shelby and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Isaac officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at the church on  Thursday and at other times at the home of his mother, Lydia Steele, 430 Webb Rd. in Shelby.
