| Thelma Barber Palmer, 89, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Hospice Cleveland County Wendover. A native of Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Jesse Augustus and Worthy Bryte Carpenter Barber. She was also preceded in death by her husband W. R. “Robert” Palmer and two brothers John R. Barber and Gus Barber Jr. and a sister Aileen Barber Kale.. Mrs. Palmer was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from The Ora Mill.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her son, Jim Palmer of Orlando, Fl; daughter, Judy Palmer Hudgins and husband Steve of Shelby; sister, Ann “Snookie” Mode Miley; grandchildren, Roseann Palmer, Kayla Palmer, Robert Palmer, Natasha Rizo, Miranda Turner; 5 great grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and her loving companion Bluebelle.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday April 9, 2012 at Union Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Shumate will be officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.
