Thelma M. Goode

Thelma M. Goode of Rutherfordton, NC formerly of Spindale, NC passed away peacefully at the age of 93, on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Oakland Living Center.

Family visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00pm on Monday, May 30th in the Family Life Center of Spencer Baptist Church, and a celebration of her life will follow at 2:00 pm, with the Reverend Bruce Caldwell officiating.

Thelma was born in Rutherfordton, NC to Lawrence Taylor Goode & Pantha Drucelia Wall Goode on March 4, 1923. She worked for many years at Stonecutter Mill, then as an insurance agent, and upon retirement enjoyed working as a door greeter at Wal-Mart. Thelma was an active member of Spencer Baptist Church. She participated in the church's Senior Adult Group, Kitchen Band, WMU, and led Sunday School classes. She also served on several committees, traveled on many mission trips, and served on the Deacon Ministry throughout her church membership. Thelma was an integral part of the community, and her church family.

Thelma was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence Taylor Goode & Pantha Drucelia Wall Goode; and siblings, Cleo Goode Gilliam, Virginia Estelle Wilson, Kathryn Goode, Woodrow Goode, Ernest Goode, & Charles Goode.

Thelma is survived by nieces: Carol Wilson Pulliam (Ronnie) - Campobello, SC; Ann Wilson Gibson - Greenville, SC; & Jane Wilson Garner (Earl) - Miss. ; nephew: Don Wilson (Elizabeth) - Easley, SC; along with multiple other nieces and nephews; and Goddaughter: Nikki (Mike) Davis, along with Great Goddaughters: Makaela & Peyton - Braselton, GA.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Spencer Baptist Church Scholarship fund 187 N. Oak Street Spindale NC 28160. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Oakland Living Center, and to the membership and staff of Spencer Baptist Church for the love and care you always provided to Thelma.
