Thomas Mack "Jack" Gardner

Thomas Mack "Jack" Gardner son of the late John Quincey and Maude Wilson Gardner joyously celebrated his 92 birthday by joining loved ones in Heaven. Jack served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre and was a recipent of 5 Bronze Star Medals asa a Military Police Officer in General George S. Patton's Army. He served as past Commander of American legion Post 82 where he was a loyal member for 70 years. He was a proud coach with Little League and American Legion Baseball teams and a Fireman with Shelby Fire Department before beginning his much enjoyed time at Bridges BBQ Lodge.

Jack was preceded in death by his first love, Nancy W. Gardner and his last love Janette P. Gardner; a son, Stephen Price; son-in-law, David Jay Jr.; grandchildren, Joseph Dowell, Abigail Dowell, and Lauren Dowell.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Carol Price of Blacksburg, Cathy Jay of Shelby, and Ginger Moss of Shelby; grandchildren, Amy Wallace, Holly Nestlerade, Nathan Price, Robby Moss, Jeannie Dowell, and Emily Dowell; nephews, Ned Cash, Dr. Ted Cash, Steve Wilson, and Tim Wilson, numerous other nieces and nephews, and his loving second family at Bridges BBQ Lodge.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 30, 2015 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, with Military Honors, with Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 2:00pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
