Thomas "Tommy" Franklin Bowen

Thomas "Tommy" Franklin Bowen, 79, of Casar, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, surrounded by family.

Born in Mecklenburg County, on April 1, 1944, he was a son of the late James Marion Bowen and Junie Benfield Bowen.

Tommy was retired from Carolina Freight and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Casar. He
was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, going to the beach, Hardee's biscuits, and spending time with his grandsons.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Jimmy Bowen, two sisters, Dot Harris and Sue Strickland, an infant grandson, Dylan Dixon, and best friend, John Herman.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Patricia M. Bowen, daughter, Rhonda Ledford (Dwayne) of Lawndale, three grandsons, Darin Dixon (Brooklyn) of Shelby, Dusty Dixon of Casar, Dawson Dixon of Lattimore, and two great-grandsons, Lane Dixon and Levi Dixon of Shelby. He is also survived by a sister, Jessie Beach (Butch) of Belmont.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church .

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev Dustin Hamrick officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
