Tom Tipton, age 74, of Wilson Drive, Forest City, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his residence.

Born February 18, 1941 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Gaston Tipton and Mamie Grant Tipton. Tom worked as a welder for Daniel Construction for many years and as a pipefitter for Duke Energy for several years. He was of the Baptist Faith and was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel and Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.L. "Prink" Tipton; three half brothers, Alex, Lonzo and Ted Abernathy.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Morrow Tipton; a host of nieces and nephews which includes special nephew, Chris Dycus; two sister-in-laws, Linda Vallecillo and Susie Dycus both of Forest City.

Funeral services will be conducted at twelve o'clock noon on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
