Tony Pitchford

Mr. Tony Pitchford, 48, of 351 Leon Road, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was born August 18, 1965, son of the late Red and Marilyn Lail Pitchford. He was a former member of Grover Rescue and Shelby Rescue, former employee of Cleveland Regional Medical Center and former Loss Prevention Officer at Walmart in Shelby, he was a proud “PawPaw Pitch” for his one and only grandson; Tucker, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Katie Pitchford; grandparents, Edd and Maude Pitchford, Marvin “Bud” and Eva Ledford Lail.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife, Terry Knight Pitchford of the home; one son, Zachary Pitchford and fiancé Hayle’ Byers of Ellenboro; daughter, Maty Pitchford of the home; step-daughter, Ashley Guerrero and husband Isaac of Spindale; one sister, Debra Mellon and husband Gary of Lattimore; two brothers, Marty Francis and wife Jane and Kenny Francis and wife Robyn all of Shelby; one grandson, Tucker Pitchford; his special father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Mabel Knight; several dear nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held Friday, 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby and other times at his father and mother-in-laws residence, 335 Leon Rd, Ellenboro.

CLERGY: Rev. Richard Hayden

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery.
