Technical Sergeant Travis Lamont McDowell, 51, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on October 26, 2025. He was a devoted servant of Christ and a beacon of love and grace to all who knew him. Born on February 27, 1974, in Shelby, NC, Travis was the son of Sheliah McDowell Webber and Fredrick McGill.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Elsie Mae McDowell; and paternal grandparents, James and Sudie Belle Webber; and paternal grandparents, Freddie D. and Betty Sue Hopper.

Travis is survived by his wife, Latisha (Kisha) McDowell of Wake Forest, NC; son, Karson McDowell; stepchildren, Jaela McKnight, Jamari McKnight, and Jyrae Moody; and grandson, Aiden McKnight. He is also survived by his mother and father Sheliah and Anthony Webber of Shelby, NC; father, Fredrick McGill of Shelby, NC; siblings, Patrice Simon (John) of Columbia, SC, Tamra Dixon (Tyreace) of Rock Hill, SC, Candice Webber of Cumming, GA, and Sherwood Tate of Shelby, NC; parents-in-law, Phyllis McKnight of Laurinburg, NC, and Eugene Hasty of Bennettsville, SC; sisters-in-law, Shavonda McKnight of Fayetteville, NC, and Lashonda McRae of Wake Forest, NC; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services with military rites following were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church.
