Troy Franklin Pruitt Sr., age 72 of Baxter Rd. died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Wendover Hospice. He was born on October 13, 1943 in Cleveland County to the late Avery Pruitt Sr. and Elvina "Vinnie" Self Pruitt. Troy was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church. He enjoyed serving his Lord in any way he could, especially through music. He was a member of the United Quartet. Troy retired from Rutherford Electric after 35 years of service. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, traveling to the beach, fishing, golfing, and riding his motorcycle. His greatest passion was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Troy Pruitt, Jr.; and sister, Shirley Oates.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Annie Ruth Short Pruitt; daughters, Tanya Church (Ronnie) of Taylorsville, and Patricia Jones (Coy) of Lincolnton; brothers, Avery Pruitt Jr. (Shirley) of Lincolnton, and Ralph Pruitt of Hickory; sister, Edith Willis of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Dustin Reinhardt, Chasity Rosario, Chandra Jones, and Trey Jones; and great grandchildren, Aby, Aly, Brailon, Zailon, Tailon, Wyatt, Devin, and Little Troy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail and Rev. Johnny Crotts officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by Cherryville American Legion Post # 100. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services.
