Vera Boyles Crotts

Vera Boyles Crotts, 92, of Belwood, NC, passed away Sunday March 28, 2021, at Wendover Hospice House, Shelby, NC.

Vera was born in Belwood, on September 26, 1928, to Ambrose G. Boyles and Mittie Norman Boyles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde R Crotts, and her sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Lon A Canipe, Jr.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Judy Crotts of Shelby, Tim and Nancy Crotts of Lawndale, Milton and Joanne Crotts of Asheville; granddaughters Carla Crotts, April Crotts, Jillian Crotts; and great-grandson Mason Cline.

A beautician for over 62 years, Vera treated the clients who came to her home shop like extended family. She loved to sew her own clothes and often tailored clothing for others, including her customers. Her talents ranged from knitting, tatting, quilting, and crochet to gardening, which was her passion. She took pride in her bountiful garden - not only dazzling flowers, but abundant fruits and vegetables, which she preserved to share with family and neighbors.

Resourceful and determined, Vera enjoyed music, dance, and traveling the world. Germany to Guam, Australia to Alaska, Honolulu to the Holy Land, she ventured far from Belwood, always returning to her home, her family, and the traditions she shared with those she leaves behind. Her greatest love and joy were her three sons, who will miss her dearly.

Vera was a lifelong member of St. Peters United Methodist Church, where a graveside service will be held this Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Brian Elwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peters United Methodist Church, c/o Gary Tillman, 5701 Fallston Road, Lawndale, NC 28090, or to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, NC 28150.
