Vergie Hannon Campbell

Cherryville - Mrs. Vergie Hannon Campbell, 91, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Campbell was born on July 3, 1925 in Cleveland County, NC a daughter of
the late Rufus Edwin Hannon and Vera Etta Neill Hannon. She worked at
Blackwelders Textiles in Cherryville for many years and later became a
professional seamstress and her sewing talents and skills were widely known
locally and throughout the state. She cherished her family and often said
her most rewarding accomplishments were as a wife, mother, grandmother and
homemaker. She was also a National and State officer of Woodmen of the
World. Mrs. Campbell was a member of First Baptist Church of Cherryville
where she worked in the nursery for many years. Her love of God, family and
friends remained constant throughout her life and was expressed through her
"greeting card ministry." She maintained personal contact and shared love
and cheer through cards for birthdays, anniversaries and get well wishes to
her many friends and family across the nation.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James
Richard "J.R." Campbell, Sr.; a brother, Walter Marcellus Hannon; two
sons-in-law, John McCall, Jr. and Rich Adams.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Beverly Campbell of
Cherryville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Joan and Earle Gaulden, Jr.
of Greenville, SC; Marilyn Adams of Sherrills Ford and Chris McCall of
Cherryville; six grandchildren, Rich Campbell, Ali Beale, Trey McCall, Dean
Lake, Hunt Gaulden and Margaret Gaulden and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 1:00PM to 2:30PM in the
old dining hall at First Baptist Church and at other times the family will
be at the home of her son, Rick Campbell.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM at First Baptist Church with Dr.
Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will be Private.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 301 E. First St. Cherryville,
NC 28021 or to the donor's choice.
