Vernie Irene Curtis Horton
Vernie Irene Curtis Horton, 95, of 1313 Oak Grove Clover Hill Church Rd, Lawndale, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born May 2, 1918 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Dorse Curtis and Madeline Black Curtis.  She retired as a cook and worked for various restaurants.  Mrs. Horton was a member of Polkville United Methodist Church. She loved to cook for her family and she loved roses.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Clarence Clark and John Edward Horton; three sons, James Clark and wife, Brenda, Clyde Clark and Bob Clark; three brothers, Joe Curtis, Lee Curtis and Willie Curtis; and two sisters, Ruth Greene and Polly Hyde.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil Clark and wife, Judy of Forest City, Tommy Clark and wife, Libby of Shelby; three daughters, Faye Lovelace and husband, T.C. of Polkville, Helen Pruitt of Shelby, and Gail Alfonso and husband, Candy of Pittsburg, California.; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Clark of Polkville and Pat Clark of Forest City; special niece, Martha Nalley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston

Burial: Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery
